Assoc. AIA – Architect in Training

Architecture that acknowledges the particulars of context and climate is itself, a form of technology. A site-specific approach leveraging natural systems, oftentimes, will account for the greatest contribution to sustainable considerations. The right design can reduce heating and cooling bills while at the same time adding the natural beauty that the landscape offers.

Matt has worked with Nelson Architects since 2016 and has more than five years of design experience.

Matt graduated from Montana State University with a Masters of Architecture (2012) and holds a B.S. in Environmental Design (2010). One of his areas of expertise is sustainability; designing structures using the natural systems and the flow of the existing landscape to take advantage of wind as ventilation, for example, and using the earth as insulation.

Matt has completed his Intern Development Program and is actively taking exams to achieve his architectural licensure.

While in school, Matt worked on a number of projects including the design of the sign for the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. Other design projects included spas, hostels, markets, and visitor centers.

Matt is a creative and talented designer. He is passionate about innovating to create great solutions for our clients. His expertise in sustainable design really diversifies our team.
