The experience I’m receiving from Nelson Architects is helping me learn more advanced techniques which will put me ahead of other first-year students when I start college.

We are committed to creating excellence in the architecture profession. Mentoring and training future architects is something we believe in.

Kevin Smith is a junior at Charles M. Russell High School. He’s in his third year of studying drafting and has shown a real aptitude for design. Kevin is using his skills in modeling software to produce design elements for a variety of projects that can be dropped into our Building Information Model (BIM). His eye for detail is helping us create efficiencies in our design process.

One of the projects he’s working on is to design an automated courtroom lectern for use by presenting attorneys in the Missouri River U.S. Federal Courthouse. This state-of-the-art lectern design features an electronically adjustable height work surface and slide-out monitor drawer, while keeping to the same ornate woodwork finish detail seen throughout the courtroom

Smith spent many hours honing his skills using Sketchup, a modeling software program, to redesign the top floor of his home. You could say he has the design “bug.”
