Challenge
The Hotel Arvon first opened in 1890 and is considered a historical treasure in Great Falls, Montana. The hotel is one of several businesses that is located in the oldest commercial building in Great Falls, the Arvon Block.
The Hotel Arvon was under serious disrepair and headed towards demolition. To restore this city treasure, our team was hired to provide a feasibility study, possible design options, and later make the design a reality.
Our services included architectural detailing, construction document detailing, and construction administration. We were there at every stage of the project – from structural and design to the finishing touches and details that made this historic hotel shine.
Size: Boutique 22-room hotel featuring three-story skylight wells that add to the character of the building.
Unique: It was a challenge working inside the existing historical footprint and retrofitting the deteriorated structure to bring everything up to modern structural codes. It was painstaking, but rewarding work to decide which materials to salvage that were both feasible and would add to the aesthetics of the finished product.
