Restaurant’s Original Architect Redesigns for the Second Owner
The Montana Club opened its first Great Falls location Nov. 12. With restaurants in Butte, Kalispell and two in Missoula, this makes the fifth Montana Club for owners and Montana natives Bob Powell and Nick Alonzo.
As featured in the Great Falls Tribune, January 20, 2013.
“My partner, Nick Alonzo and I, have been looking for a few years now for the perfect location in Great Falls, and were thrilled to find the log structure on Smelter (formerly The Prospector Casino) available,” said Bob Powell, co-owner of The Montana Clubs.
Dale Nelson of Nelson Architects led the redesign and construction of this project. They also designed the original building constructed in 2008,
“Nelson Architects was crucial in helping us open in just six short months,” Powell says. “Dale and his team were wonderful to work with. He listened to what we wanted, added some great ideas and solutions, and brought the right construction team together. We’ve done four other Montana Clubs and this was done in record time and by far the smoothest and most collaborative projects we’ve done.”
Nelson Architects, a Montana-based firm, redesigned the entire interior, opening up the dining room around the fireplace, creating a beautiful solid wood bar, adding a high-tech 30-person meeting/conference room, redesigning the kitchen where everything is made fresh, and creating a more customer-friendly layout of the Club Casino.
“We wanted something warm, friendly and comfortable,” Powell says.
The Montana Club has 75 staff working for it, and all are from Great Falls.
Nelson Architects’ current projects include the new ADF International building and Montana State University Food Services Redesign.
