Challenge

The Magic Manor project involved the replacement of two exterior spiral egress stairways serving the rear of an existing apartment building. The new stair systems replaced the original aging structures, improved resident access, and enhanced life safety by bringing the building’s exterior egress into compliance with current building code requirements. A key challenge of the project was developing a code-compliant stair design within the site’s highly constrained footprint, requiring careful planning and efficient use of the limited available space.
